Dr. Mui Kwong-chiu 梅廣釗博士

Chairman 主席

 

Dr Mui Kwong Chiu received both PhD and MPh from the University of Hong Kong in music composition. He also graduated from Hong Kong Baptist University (HKBU) majoring in Cinematography. In 2018, he was awarded the BU Distinguished Communication Alumni Award in its 50th anniversary for his musical achievements and contribution to Hong Kong society. In 2020 he was awarded by the Hong Kong Arts Development Council ‘The 14th Hong Kong Arts Development Award’ Artist of the Year (Music ).

Dr Mui composes music for various local and overseas arts groups as wells as music festivals,  including The first multimedia beach water concert in Sai Kung for the first Hong  Kong Youth Festival 2018; Multimedia concert Thousand Sails for the World Hakka Conference 2017; International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO) Hong Kong Opening ceremony in Queen Elizabeth Stadium 2016; BU 60 anniversary Celebration Concert 2016; The Opening Ceremony of 2010 Hong Kong Week of Shanghai Expo in Shanghai Expo (simultaneous broadcast by RTHK and Shanghai TV Station); East Asian Games Closing ceremony in Hong Kong (in Hong Kong Coliseum) 2009; The historic 2008 Olympic Torch Relay in Hong Kong in Bauhinia Square.

In addition, Dr Mui composes music for large-scale theatre production: Chinese Music Theatre Ode to Water 《千水情》for the Hong Kong Chinese Orchestra (HKCO) in 2012  (Rerun in 2017) celebrating its 35th Anniversary Season Opening Concert; Intoxicating Nature 《山花醉》 in 2011, (Rerun in 2012) for HKCO; Seven Wisemen from the Bamboo Grove 《竹林七賢》for the Hong Kong Repertory Theatre (HKRT); Reincarnation of the Prunus Mume 《紅梅再世》for HKRT celebrating its 40th anniversary; music for drama for Rashomon 《羅生門》; Shake Shake Speare 《莎士對比亞》; About Thunderstorm About Sunrise 《雷雨對日出》; music for dance drama Spring Ritual and Eulogy 《蘭亭。祭姪》for the Hong Kong Dance Company; music for film Cream Soda and Milk 《忌廉溝鮮奶》as well as over 50 episodes of RTHK TV productions including Histories of Hong Kong, I, II, III; Man and Universe; Our Scientists; Stories of Islands and many others. He also composes for Asian Composer League, ISCM, Hong Kong Arts Festival and harmonica ensemble works for World Harmonica Festival (WHF).

 

His large-scale Western symphonic pieces include Symphonic Poem Genesis《創世紀》; Erhu Concerto The Hero 《大漠之歌》, Double Concerto for Piano and Flute The Great Earth 《大地》(2017); Concerto for Suona and Guanzi Bauhinia 嗩吶管子協奏典《紫荊花》; and music for band Song of the Sea 《海之歌》.​

 

Dr Mui is currently the Chairman of Hong Kong Composers Guild.  In 2013 he represented Hong Kong Composers’ Guild and RTHK Radio 4 to attend the International Rostrum held in Prague, Czech Republic. He is the Honorary Advisor of the School of Continuing and Professional Studies of CUHK (Music programme); the Honorary Advisor of Tien Ma Chorus and Yuen Long Children’s Choir; the Honorary Composer in Residence of Hong Kong Harmonica Association; the Adjudicator of the World Harmonica Festival and Honorary Adjudicator for APHF since 2000. He attended International Society for Contemporary Music (ISCM) in Vancouver in 2017 and in Peking in 2018. 

梅廣釗博士現為香港作曲家聯會主席,畢業於香港大學音樂系 (獲頒 PhD 和MPh)和浸會大學電影系 ;2020年獲藝發局頒發第14屆香港藝術發展獎《藝術家年獎》;2018 獲浸大傳理系頒《傑出傳理人獎》; 代表香港作曲家聯會出席溫哥華、北京《國際現代音樂節 》、捷克《國際作曲家論壇》和台北《亞太作曲家聯盟》,促進國際組織交流合作等。

Dr. Chi-hin Leung was born in a metropolitan city - Hong Kong. With diverse cultural background, his compositions mix with both East and West thoughts, and with special interests in timbral and textural explorations. Leung’s compositions and recordings are published by Schott Music (Germany), MOECK (Germany), Edition HH (U.K.), PARMA Recordings (U.S.), From the Top Music (U.S.), Oxford University Press (China) and Hong Kong Composers’ Guild. His works have been featured by ISCM World New Music Days, UNESCO International “Arts for Peace” Festival, International Rostrum of Composers, International Electronic Music Week, World Choir Games, International Handbell Symposium, ISME World Conference on Music Education, Asian Recorder Festival, Singapore Saxophone Symposium, Summa Cum Laude International Youth Music Festival Vienna, Taipei Traditional Arts Festival, Musicarama, Hong Kong Schools Music Festival and many. He is currently a lecturer at the Education University of Hong Kong.

 

梁智軒博士生於國際大都會-香港。受其多樣性的文化背景所影響,梁氏的創作揉合東方和西方的思想,亦特別熱衷於音色與織體的探索。 他的作品及錄音由Schott Music(德國)、MOECK(德國)、Edition HH(英國)、PARMA Recordings(美國)、From The Top Music(美國)及牛津大學出版社(中國)出版。梁氏的作品曾於多個國際音樂節中演出,包括國際現代音樂節(ISCM)、聯合國教科文組織「國際和平藝術節」、國際作曲家交流會議(IRC)、國際電子音樂周(EMW)、世界合唱比賽、世界手鈴大會、國際音樂教育協會(ISME)、亞洲木笛節、新加坡蕯克斯風國際研討會、維也納青少年音樂節、台北傳統藝術節、音樂新文化及香港學校音樂節等。梁氏現為香港教育大學講師 。

Cheng’s music consists of an eclectic inspiration of a variety of Western musical styles. Cheng holds M.Mus. at King’s College, London and Ph.D. at the University of Hong Kong. Cheng is the producer and director of his music production company Takumi Works Limited which produced vastly for pop songs, TV jingles, TV/film soundtracks, Musicals, music for multi-media projects and CD productions.

 

Cheng is successful in both pop and contemporary music industries. One of his Canto-pop songs receives the best airing index of four Hong Kong leading radio/TV stations in Hong Kong pop song charts 2005. This result gets him the Joint Song Award for Performance Excellence, the 2nd place of Favorite Hit Top 10 from Commercial Radio 2, and the 28th RTHK Top Ten Chinese Gold Songs Awards. Besides, Cheng’s compositions have been performed in different music festivals such as International Double Reed Society (IDRS) in Tokyo, International Electronic Music Festival (Musicacoustica-Beijing) in Beijing, ISCM in Hong Kong, MUSICARAMA in Hong Kong and Asia Ocarina Festival in Japan. Recently, Cheng is awarded "Best Serious Composition" in CASH Golden Sail Music Awards in 2015 with his commissioned multimedia work Lost and Regain.

 

Cheng is currently teaching composition and electronic music at Hong Kong Baptist University, Kingston University (UK) and Lingnan University.

 

鄭汝森畢業於英國倫敦大學King’s College (音樂碩士) 及香港大學 (哲學博士),是香港作曲家及音樂監製。

鄭氏的音樂風格多元化,經常穿梭於古典、現代、流行及多媒體音樂間。鄭氏於2002年開設錄音室兼音樂出版製作室Takumi Works Ltd.,致力為本地及海外的客戶製作不同類型的音樂,至今曾為過百多間商業機構、電台、電視台、政府、慈善及教育機構製作多不勝數的音樂,當中大部份的客戶更是本港以至國際知名的品牌或機構。

鄭氏應邀為英國京士頓大學音樂系擔任課程策劃及講師、香港浸會大學音樂系及香港嶺南大學兼任講師,以教授作曲及電子音樂為主。

Viola Yuen 阮慧玲

Viola Yuen is an active composer, arranger, conductor, and an A Cappella singer who is enthusiastic about the application of human voices in various musical compositions. Her music displayed a unique style, originality and profound emotion.

 

Currently she is an adjunct lecturer of The Hong Kong Academy for the Performing Arts and the Bachelor of Music (Honours) programme of Kingston University (UK), the Music Director of the Sregnis Singer, the first contemporary A Cappella group in Hong Kong, and a director of Hong Kong Composers’ Guild.. Since 1990, she has been appointed as a conductor of the Diocesan Choir - Catholic Diocese of Hong Kong.

 

Graduated from Hong Kong Baptist College and The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts, she is now a candidate for Doctoral Degree of Music at The Chinese University of Hong Kong Graduate School. Viola is a holder of Lions Joseph Koo Music Foundation Scholarship in 2009, 2010 and 2011, and also the The Composers and Authors Society of Hong Kong Scholarships in 2014. Her works have been featured at the International Rostrum of Composers, Asian Composers’ League, Musicarama, and International Handbell Symposium. Some of her works are published by the Hong Kong Composers’ Guild as well as the H’ing Publishing (HK). 

 

阮氏熱衷於探索人聲於中作品之運用與創作,其作品呈現獨特的個人風格、原創性,及濃郁的情緒,並曾於國際作曲家交流會議、亞洲作曲家聯盟、香港音樂生文化、國際手鈴研討會中演出。其部分作品由「香港作曲家聯會」及「磬音文化」發表。

現為香港演藝學院、英國京士頓大學兼任講師、香港首隊當代無伴奏合唱組合<合唱俠>之音樂總監、及「香港作曲家聯會」理事。並自1990年起,一直被委任為天主教香港教區聖樂團之指揮。

Dr. Austin Yip 葉浩堃博士

Born in Hong Kong, Austin Yip’s works have been performed worldwide, festivals he participated include ISCM, ACL and many more. Yip obtained his PhD and Master of Philosophy (composition) degrees at the University of Hong Kong. He also holds a Bachelor of Arts (Music) degree from the University of California, Berkeley with a “high distinction in general scholarship” and a FTCL from Trinity College, London. 

 

Yip is the holder of James Kitagawa Memorial Music Scholarship, Regents’ and Chancellor’s Scholarship, Henry Holbrook Scholarship, James King Scholarship, Eisner Prize, Milton C. Witzel Memorial Prize, Rayson Huang Scholarship, CASH Best Commissioned Piece Award and the winner of the 1st Singapore Asian Composers Festival. Yip’s works are published by ABRSM (UK), BabelScores (France), Ablaze Records (US/ Australia), Hugo Productions (Hong Kong) and Hong Kong Composers Guild. He has taught at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology and Hong Kong Institute of Education. He is currently a lecturer at the Hong Kong Baptist University.

 

作為香港土生土長的作曲家,葉浩堃的音樂在全世界很多地方都曾見過踪影,包括大型音樂節ISCM及ACL等。葉氏於加州大學柏克萊分校主修聲樂畢業後,於香港大學在陳錦標博士指導下獲取哲學碩士(作曲)及哲學博士(作曲)學位。葉氏的部份作品被英國皇家音樂學院、法國出版社Babelscores、美國唱片公司AblazeRecords、雨果唱片及香港作曲家聯會出版。葉氏經常以樂評人身份於報章及網絡平台撰寫專欄。他現為香港浸會大學音樂系講師,並先後任教於香港教育學院及香港科技大學。

Au Tin Yung Alex 歐天勇

Alex Au Tin Yung was born in Hong Kong. He is an active composer, conductor and jazz pianist. He received his Master’s Degree (Distinction) in Composition at the University of York, under the supervision of Dr. Thomas Simaku. Alex’s works have been widely performed in different places including Hong Kong, Shanghai, Zhuhai, Macau, Taiwan, Italy and the U.K. His chamber work “Dao” has been selected as finalists in Duosolo Emerging Composer Competition​ 2012. Alex also learned Orchestra Conducting from Dr. John Stringer in the U.K. and Roberto Paternostro in Berlin.

 

Besides being a composer, Alex is an enthusiastic jazz pianist. He met one of his mentors, John Taylor, when he studied in York. Alex has also worked with a wide range of top musicians including Lonnie Williams, Ted Lo, Kazuo Takeda, Iain Ballamy and Julian Arguelles, etc. and also performed in several International Jazz Festivals.

  

In recent years, Alex did a lot of research on compositional techniques regarding pitch structuring. His book “The Common Features in Music in the Extended Common Practice” was published in 2013. He is currently continuing his research on integrating electronic technology with serious music in a PhD in Composition at HKU, with the support from the university postgraduate scholarship.

 

歐天勇於英國約克大學取得作曲碩士學位, 師承Dr. Thomas Simaku。 歐氏的作品曾於世界各地演出,他的室作品“道”更獲選為Duosolo 2012的決賽入圍作品。另外,歐氏亦於英國及德國分別跟隨Dr. John Stringer 及Roberto Paternostro學習管弦樂指揮。除作曲外,歐氏亦是一個職業爵士鋼琴家,於英國在學期間曾跟隨John Taylor學習即興技巧,曾獲邀參與香港國際爵士音樂節2011及北山國際爵士音樂節2011的演出。於2013年,他的著作The Common Features in Music in the Extended Common Practice在香港出版。歐氏現於香港大學進行關於嚴肅音樂及電子科技整合的研究。

Kai-Young Chan assimilates various Asian cultural traditions into his output from concert works to film scores, and he is particularly drawn to the musicality of Chinese literature expressed through the tonal Cantonese language. His music is performed across the continents by the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra, Curtis Symphony Orchestra, Albany Symphony, Hong Kong Philharmonic, PRISM Quartet, Daedalus Quartet, International Ensemble Modern Academy, and Hong Kong New Ensemble, among other prominent performers. His selected works are released on Ablaze Records, PARMA Recordings, and Innova Recordings, with scores published by Editions Peters (London) and Central Conservatory of Music Press(Beijing).

 

Chan’s music is presented on such international stages as ISCM World Music Days, International Rostrum of Composers, International Forum of New Music Manuel Enriquez, soundSCAPE Festival, Internationalen Ferienkurse Darmstadt and Chinese Composers’ Festival. He is part of the first artist delegation of the American Composers Forum to the Havana Festival for Contemporary Music in Cuba, a historic tour documented by the National Public Radio. He completed his Ph.D. in Music Composition from at the University of Pennsylvania, where he taught undergraduate courses in music theory, musicianship, piano and erhu. He joined the faculty of the Chinese University of Hong Kong since 2016.

陳啟揚於美國賓夕法尼亞大學完成作曲博士學位,現為香港中文大學音樂系講師。 作品常以亞洲題材及粵語音調為靈感,曾獲美國匹茲堡交響樂團 、奧爾巴尼交響樂團 、 香港管弦樂團、 香港兒童合唱團、香港創樂團等團體演奏, 先後入選歐亞、北美、中美各地的國際音樂節,如國際現代音樂節(ISCM)、國際作曲家交流會議(IRC)、 夏灣拿現代音樂節、 soundSCAPE等,並由 Edition Peters出版社以及美國唱片公司Innova 、PARMA 、 Ablaze出版。

Dr. Chris Hung 洪銘健博士

Chris Hung established himself as one of the most notable Hong Kong composers of the younger generation.

He received the Doctoral degree at the Chinese University of Hong Kong under the tutorlege of Prof. Chan Wing Wah and Prof. Victor Chan. His approximate 60 creative outputs include nearly ten large-scale Western and Chinese orchestral works and other chamber works. Hung’s compositions have enjoyed premieres over fifteen countries including United States, Finland and Japan etc. His music style is characterized by its refined and carefully arranged kaleidoscopic details, often displaying a rich but clear fabric in a type of ordered chaos merging from the East and West.

 

Recent accolades include the First Prize in “Sofia 2013” International Composition Competition, Second Prize in Poznan International Composers' Competition; Finalist comprises 2015 SCO International Competition for Chinese Orchestral Composition, International Jean Sibelius Composition Competition, "Florence String Quartet Call For Scores" etc. His works were featured at the international festivals, such as 2015 ISCM World Music Days, ACL Festival and Darmstadt Summer Course etc. Hung has collaborated with many orchestras and ensembles, such as Hong Kong Chinese Orchestra, Singapore Chinese Orchestra, Sofia Soloists Chamber Orchestra and Helsinki Chamber Choir etc.

洪銘健是一位活躍於香港的傑出青年作曲家, 風格融合東西方的傳統, 作品結構嚴謹, 具有精緻的細節, 往往顯示出一種有序的混亂。

 

洪的音樂曾在世界各地十五個國家發表,包括美國,芬蘭及日本等, 也曾參與ISCM世界音樂日及達姆斯塔特現代音樂節等。獲獎包括索菲亞國際作曲比賽首獎等; 以及入選2011和2015年新加坡華樂作曲比賽,西貝流士作曲比賽及佛羅倫斯弦樂四重奏作曲比賽等。

洪博士曾與許多著名樂團合作,包括香港管弦樂團,香港中樂團及新加坡華樂團等。

Lee Kar Tai, Phoebus is an active young composer, contemporary-music researcher and educator. His music and papers have been performed and presented at international music festivals and university conferences. He attained the Doctor of Music degree (D. Mus.) at The Chinese University of Hong Kong, and was the director of the department New Music Ensemble and part time lecturer there. He is currently a guest lecturer at the Education University of Hong Kong, as well as editorial assistant and daily music programme director at RTHK Radio 4. He has been teaching music and conducting composition programmes at universities, colleges and schools, giving workshops and lectures to school teachers and the general public, and being a writer for composition teaching materials. At various occasions, he also performs as a choral, orchestral or chamber-music conductor, harpsichordist, organist, and pianist on both traditional and contemporary works.

李氏熱衷於音樂創作、當代音樂研究、音樂教育及創意推廣,他的作品與論文多次於國際平台與大學會議發表。李氏於香港中文大學取得音樂博士銜,曾於母校音樂系任新音樂合奏團總監及兼職講師,現時為香港教育大學客席講師、香港電台第四台音樂曲目編輯及編輯助理。李氏於不同大學、學院、中學、小學授課及主導作曲培訓班,曾於教育局及公開講座演講,並執筆篇寫音樂創作教材。其次,李氏亦經常以不同形式參與傳統古典音樂與當代音樂的演出,例如指揮、演奏古鍵琴、管風琴、鋼琴等。

Ng Chun Hoi, Daniel serves as a music educator, composer and music critic. Ng studied composition at the Chinese University of Hong Kong and the Hong Kong University. He also undertook research in Chinese music and teacher education and obtained his doctoral degree from the University of New South Wales, Australia. Ng has taught music courses at various institutions such as the Hong Kong Institute of Education, Hong Kong Baptist University and the Hong Kong Academy for the Performing Arts. He is presently the Dean of the Hong Kong Music Institute where he also teaches composition, music theory and Chinese music history.  .

 

He is often commissioned for new works by different organizations and a number of his work has been performed and broadcast in Hong Kong and overseas.  His recent publications include vocal and choral compositions published in an anthology: the Hong Kong Vocal Music Collection, a chamber work Lyric Dialogues published in discography by Hugo Productions and a violin duet, Nocturne published by Red House Editions.

吳俊凱為資深音樂教育工作者、作曲家和樂評人,先後畢業於香港中文大學和香港大學,主修音樂及作曲,並於澳洲新南威爾斯大學取得哲學博士學位,專注研究中國音樂與師資培訓的課題。吳氏曾於韓國、澳洲、日本、美國和香港等地發表和出版多篇學術論文和教育著作,包括《學習潮州弦詩樂》教學光碟、《歌樂流芳—黃自音樂賞析與教學專集》等。歷任香港教育學院講師、香港浸會大學及香港演藝學院客席講師。現任香港音樂專科學校教務長與及教授作曲、音樂理論和中國音樂等課程。

 

在音樂創作方面,吳氏經常獲不同團體委約創作,作品亦多次於本港及海外廣播和演出。已出版的作品包括於香港聲樂作品集發表的四首聲樂曲,雨果唱片公司灌錄的室樂作品【抒情對話】,澳洲Red House Editions出版的小提琴二重奏【夜曲】等。

Mr. Lau’s compositions were performed or broadcasted in many places and events, including New Music From Hong Kong Concert in NYC; Hong Kong Contemporary Music Festival; Intimacy of Creativity 2017 Contemporary Song Festival; ACL 2013 Singapore; ISCM – ACL World Music Days 2007; 2006 International Rostrum of Composers in Paris; the Lilian Baylis Theatre in Sadlers Wells, London; Musicarama; New Generation.

 

Galison got several commissions, including Hong Kong Contemporary Music Festival 2018; Helsyd Piano Trio with Hong Kong New Music Ensemble in 2017; Hong Kong Arts Festival 2014; Spotlight On Young Musicians Concert Series 1; Musicarama 2010, 2012, and 2017. In 2009, Scents got the first prize of Harry Archer Memorial Scholarship. He was asked to compose a piece for the inauguration of the Wellcome Theatre in HKAPA.

 

He worked with several renowned ensembles, including Munich Chamber Orchestra; Parker String Quartet; MIVOS Quartet; RTHK Quartet; RTHK Chamber Soloists; Varshavsky Shapira Piano Duo.

 

 

劉詠浲他的作品曾於不同地方及活動中演出或廣播,包括美國紐約《香港新音樂演奏會》、香港現代音樂節、「創意間的親暱」2017當代歌曲音樂節、2013亞洲作曲家聯盟、2007國際現代音樂節、巴黎2006 International Rostrum of Composers 、英國薩德勒威爾斯劇院、音樂新文化、音樂新一代等。

劉氏曾獲多個委約,包括2018年香港現代音樂節、2017年Helsyd鋼琴三重奏與香港創樂團、2014年香港藝術節、2011年6月 聚「招」青年音樂家第一季、音樂新文化2010、2012和2017等。2009年,作品《氣味》,獲得哈利.阿徹紀念獎冠軍。2006年他為香港演藝學院新落成的惠康劇院開幕創作及演出。

他曾與多個著名樂團合作,包括慕尼黑室內樂團、Parker弦樂四重奏、MIVOS四重奏、香港電台弦樂四重奏、香港電台室樂演奏家、Varshavsky Shapira鋼琴二重奏等。
